Archbishop Williams High School soccer teams score high with MIAA Academic Excellence Awards
BRAINTREE, MA, ISSUED JANUARY 13, 2010... Dr. Carmen Mariano, President of Archbishop Williams High School, a leading Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school located in Braintree, proudly announces that all four of the school's soccer teams earned Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Excellence Awards for the fall 2009 term.
The Varsity Girls Team had an average GPA of 3.165 to qualify for a Gold Certificate; the Junior Varsity Girls Team received a 3.061 GPA average, also earning a Gold Certificate; the Varsity Boys Team had a 2.956 GPA average for a Silver Certificate; and the Junior Varsity Boys Team took a 2.890 GPA average for a Silver Certificate.
"Excellence comes in many forms and on many fields," said Joseph Francis, Athletic Director at Archbishop Williams High School. "Our school and students celebrate and practice them all."
Said President Mariano, "These bright and talented young women and men are earning great respect, not only on the field but in the academic arena as well; we couldn't be more proud."
