Program Support Board
Parent Support Plan Program Information Booklet Academic Year 2010-2011
In many tuition driven schools, the tuition that parents pay is never the true per pupil cost. There is always a differential that in Catholic schools historically has been made up through fund-raising. A substantial amount of the fund-raising is taken over here by our parents. Over the years, the parents have contributed not only to the differential in per pupil cost but have assisted the school with some noticeable enhancements.
For anyone involved in fund-raising, it often follows that fund-raising falls to one small dedicated group of participants. About ten years ago, the Parents Board designed a program of shared fund-raising to include all Williams’ parents. Parents are required to submit a check for $250.00 when their student enters as a freshman. If parents work the requisite 20 service hours on various parent fund-raising activities during the school year, that $250.00 fee is rolled over to the following year and so on. When a student graduates from AWHS, the $250.00 is then returned to the parents. Parents who do not wish to do service hours can donate the $250.00 fee each year to the program.
By PSP design, all parents are involved in the program; they can decide and choose how they volunteer their hours depending on interest and time constraints. The fund-raising is a shared activity and an unexpected benefit is a social aspect where parents can connect with other parents; information and concerns are shared and friendships are made. Since its inception, the Parents Support Program has been a very profitable and successful endeavor.

Parent Support Board Welcomes You!
As President and Vice President of the Parent Support Board we would like take this opportunity to first welcome all the new freshmen parents to the AWHS Family. Leslie and I are looking forward to working with all of you. The Parent Support Board is comprised of parents and/or guardians of Archbishop Williams' students. The main objectives of the Parent Support Board is to plan and develop new ideas to raise funds to support the school, coordinate planned functions and events, and serve as a sounding board for new fundraising ideas. The PSB activities and events give AWHS parents and/or guardians many opportunities to fulfill their required volunteer hours. Any parent or guardian of an AWHS student is welcome to join this Board. The main objectives of the Parent Support Board is to plan and develop new ideas to raise funds to support the school, coordinate functions and events which are already planned, and serve as a sounding board for new fundraising ideas. The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month from September through May at 7:15 p.m. at 40 Independence Ave in the Board Room. Please, join us on Wednesday September 15, 2010 for our first meeting.
As stated by Dr, Mariano, President of AWHS:
"AWHS values are Unity, Quality and Responsibility." As Parents and guardians, we can help foster these values by participating in the school activities, showing our children we too can be a part of the AWHS TEAM!
